Meet Board of Directors
At the heart of the JoyRide Center’s mission, to help people with different abilities find more joy in life through equine-assisted services and functional/life skills education, is a dedicated Board of Directors. This passionate group of individuals brings diverse expertise and a shared commitment to the growth of JoyRide and the life-changing impact it has on the individuals and families it serves.








Leonard Kalfayan
President
Leonard was born in Los Angeles, California, moved to Houston in 1998 and now resides in Magnolia,Texas with his wife, her sister, who is a JoyRide client, and their two horses and three dogs. Leonard is avolunteer at JoyRide in addition to serving on the Board.Leonard earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Chemistry from Occidental College in Los Angeles,California, and a M.S. Degree in Chemical Engineering from Purdue University in Lafayette, Indiana. Heretired in 2022 from the Hess Corporation after 42 years of global experience in the oil, gas, andgeothermal energy industries. Leonard is an industry-recognized expert in well production enhancementmethods and technologies, and related business development. Prior to joining Hess in 2009, he workedfor the Unocal Corporation and BJ Services in various technical and leadership capacities, and as anindependent industry consultant. With Hess he was a Principal Advisor and Functional Head ofProduction Engineering. He continues to serve part-time as a consultant, including as Executive Advisorfor Texx Chemicals, serves on various energy industry committees, and writes a bimonthly column forWorld Oil Magazine. He is a past Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Distinguished Lecturer and a SPEDistinguished Member. He is author of over 35 journal publications and holds 13 U.S. patents. He is alsoauthor of the book Production Enhancement with Acid Stimulation (in its second edition), co-author ofthe book The Energy Imperative, and co-editor and co-author of the SPE Monograph: Acid Stimulation.Leonard has also served on and chaired church Boards of Trustees and was president of thehomeowner’s association for a residential community in Houston. Leonard now devotes a considerableamount of their time to JoyRide, where he has a passion for and commitment to the JoyRide programsand clients, and to supporting the staff. Leonard and his wife are also significant donors, includingfunding the construction of the JoyRide barn.

Bill McDonald
Vice President
Bill McDonald is the founder of D & L Electric, a Houston-based commercial electrical contracting company that grew to employ more than one hundred people and deliver significant projects across retail, industrial, and service sectors. Recognized for his generosity and community involvement, he has long supported local nonprofits and charitable initiatives. As one of the founding members of JoyRide Center, Bill recently rejoined the Board of Directors following his retirement, bringing seasoned leadership, business insight, and a steadfast commitment to advancing JoyRide’s mission.

Tatia George
Treasurer
Tatia George is the owner of Graze, an upscale restaurant in Tomball, TX and serves as Treasurer on JoyRide Center’s Board of Directors. She brings more than 25 years of experience in food and beverage leadership, including her tenure at The Woodlands Country Club, where she developed expertise in operations, team management, and fiscal oversight. As both a business owner and community leader, Tatia offers valuable financial stewardship and organizational insight to help ensure JoyRide Center’s sustainability and advance its mission of providing equine-assisted services and life-enriching programs for individuals with different abilities. She was born in California and was raised in Gig Harbor Washington. Her love of horses drew her to JoyRide. She currently serves as the Treasurer of JoyRide Center and continues to volunteer several hours a week.

Mary Brezina
Secretary
A native of North Dakota, Mary is a retired petroleum engineer, having worked in the oil and gas
industry for 30+ years. She earned her B.S. in engineering from the University of Tulsa (Tulsa, OK) and
worked in onshore/offshore Louisiana and Texas throughout her career, as well as traveled extensively
to other oil and gas producing countries. Prior to becoming an engineer Mary’s first career was as a
speech pathologist where she worked exclusively with the special needs and neurologically impaired
populations.
Mary has a special needs sister who lives with her and her husband in Magnolia. With her love of horses
and lifelong experience with the disabled, JoyRide Center’s Prep program and therapeutic riding was a
perfect fit for volunteer opportunities. Mary has volunteered in various capacities through the years and
continues to do so. Also, her sister participates in the Prep and therapeutic riding programs.
In addition to being active volunteers, Mary and her husband have also been substantial donors over the
years.

Kevin Seiler
Member
Kevin Seiler is an Eagle Scout who began his public service career at age 19 as a Park Ranger for Brevard County, Florida. During this time, he also served as Secretary on the Board of the Friends of Erna Nixon Park. While working, Kevin earned his AA from Brevard Community College and graduated from the Police Academy in 1991. He went on to complete a BA in Criminology from the University of South Florida while volunteering as a part-time police officer for the City of West Melbourne and as a Reserve Wildlife Officer for the State of Florida.
Kevin continued his law enforcement career before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force in 1994 as a Law Enforcement Specialist, graduating with honors from both Basic Military Training and the USAF Security Police Academy. He served in diverse roles including Investigator, Hostage Negotiator, and Joint Drug Enforcement Team Investigator. While on active duty, Kevin earned a Master of Public Administration from Troy University and an AAS in Criminal Justice.
Promoted to Staff Sergeant and later commissioned as a Special Agent with the Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI), Kevin led complex investigations in Major Crime, Fraud, and Counterintelligence. As a Captain, he commanded AFOSI Forward Operating Location 6 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and later served as Chief of Counterintelligence and War Plans in Japan.
After transitioning to the USAF Reserve, Kevin began a civil service career as a Special Agent for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, with assignments in Tennessee, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, and Texas. He also served as Vice President of the Federal Wildlife Officers Association. Kevin retired from the Air Force Reserve in 2016.
