WHAT IS AN EQUINE SPECIALIST IN MENTAL HEALTH AND LEARNING?
A PATH Intl certified Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning serves as an expert in equine-assisted services.
A PATH Intl certified Equine Specialist:
Is knowledgeable in horsemanship
Has a thorough understanding of the ways of equine behavior affects human responses
Evaluates the role of the equine during the mental health or education sessions
Understands how to collaborate with other professionals to meet client's needs
Ensures the safety and well being of the equine
Assesses the equine's response to any interactions
Assures that the interactions within the EAS session are ethical and safe
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
The 3 day workshop is for experienced equestrians, instructors, mental health professionals, and educators who are interested in equine-assisted services.
WHAT WILL BE COVERED?
This specialized training is taught by a PATH Intl certified mental health professional and an equine specialist. The workshop uses a combination of lectures, discussions, demonstrations, role-plays, and hands-on exercises with equines.
MORE ABOUT THE WORKSHOP:
The 3 day workshop provides specialized training for equestrians who are interested in conducting equine-facilitated mental health and/or equine-assisted learning programs. This workshop is not designed to train educators or mental health professionals how to perform their role in equine-facilitated psychotherapy or equine-assisted learning sessions, nor is it designed to teach equine handling skills.
