Karen is a NARHA Advanced
Therapeutic Riding Instructor and
was the NARHA Instructor of the Year
in 2007. She is a Licensed Athletic
Trainer and holds a BS from Texas
A&M University (1986).  In addition,
Karen holds a lifetime teaching
certificate in physical and health
education and is a lifetime
equestrienne. She has over 20 years
of experience teaching at a local
therapeutic riding center for a
population of people with special
needs ranging from 3 years of age to
seniors. Karen is the Director of the  
Special Olympics Texas Equestrian
Karen has coached teams of 20+ riders and loves combining her gifts of teaching, coaching and rehabilitation:





Karen has been happily married to David (aka, Mr. Karen) for 23 years. They have two sons, Daniel and Kyle,
who volunteer. Her 4-legged, "red-headed children", Scooter and Jo, work as therapeutic horses in the
JoyRide arena.
"I am doing what I have always dreamed of doing; I am just working with a different population
of athletes and in a different setting. I am truly doing what God wants me to do. There is no
doubt that this career path is a gift from above.”
Division and was the Team Texas Equestrian World Games Coach in 1999.
